Molecular Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases
University of Helsinki, August 28 – September 1, 2017
We are pleased to announce a short course in molecular epidemiology to be taught at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Helsinki, from 28th August – 1st September 2017.
This course will introduce molecular methods and next generation sequencing (NGS) as applied to infectious agents for the sake of epidemiological investigation. Human and veterinary pathogens will be discussed, with focus on bacterial and viral infections and on zoonotic bacteria. The teachers are Prof. Ruth Zadoks and Dr. Taya Forde, University of Glasgow, UK.
Application deadline is April 21, 2017, by midnight. Qualified course participants will be chosen based on the order of registration. The applicants will get an acceptance mail by May 5 from the course organizers.

Postgraduate Course in Companion Animal Behaviour and Welfare
Organised by Odisee University College (Belgium), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB Spain) and DAVALON (Netherlands).
Students will learn about the behaviour, welfare and training of the species of their choice being dogs, cats, horses, rabbits and rodents. International experts in the field of companion animal behaviour counselling and welfare teach the course.
The theoretical concepts will be introduced in five e-learning modules and the the practical skills in two modules consisting of practical workshops and a one-week internship.
The course starts in September 2016 and takes 2 years to complete with a course load of 46 study points, which is equal to 48 study hours per month.
