My teaching philosophy
I try to teach principles, research methods and how to think. It is also important to teach the language of ecology.
I try to encourage active learning rather than just passive reading. I need your help for this! Please ask questions during the lectures, comment, disagree, or agree with what I say. Ask for additional reading material on whatever interests you.
What is the language of ecology? It is the knowledge and terminology that any plant ecologist normally gives for granted when talking to colleagues.
I also try to transmit the fun and excitement that I get in doing scientific research. Thrill of teasing ones curiosity and finding the answers to the questions about Nature that we have.
I am open to all questions: no question is too simple or too complicated. If you can formulate a question you are already half way to solving a problem… If I do not know the answer… I will try to find the answer… if nobody knows the answer it may become the subject of a student project or thesis…
