Can I still submit a paper proposal?

Deadline for the individual papers and open session proposals was 31/12/2015. Because we received a huge amount of abstracts, we need to stay with the original deadline and unfortunately cannot take any late submissions.

What are the different Call for Papers or Call for Sessions?

  • The first CfP or Call for Sessions (1.9.-30.10.2015) of call for sessions is for closed and open sessions only.

A closed session consists of a chair and appointed panelists, who the chair has organized to present on a set topic of the chairs choosing that relates to the conference theme. The chair organizes the whole session.

An open session means, that the chair proposes only a topic and abstract of their theme. The Easr conference organizers will then after the cfp for individual papers forward the abstract application submissions to the chair who will make the selection of panelists for their session. These open session topics will be published at the same time as the CfP for individual papers/abstracts. You may apply for an open session through the individual papers cfp e-form.

  • The second CfP (15.11.-31.12.2015) for call for papers is for individual abstracts on individual conference papers. The proposals for individual papers can be submitted in two ways:

1) You can submit an abstract of a paper that relates in general to the conference theme Relocating religion.

2) You can submit an abstract of a paper that is intended to one of the open sessions, listed on the conference website under the topic Call For Papers.

The sessions approval notifications will be sent to the chairs in the beginning of November 2015. The abstract approval notifications will be sent in February 2016.

What does the e-forms sentence: “You may fill the e-form only once!” mean?

You have one chance technically to fill in the e-form submission and you cannot re-edit your submission later. If there are changes or other requirements to your proposal in general, please inform the conference secretary via email easr2016@helsinki.fi.

Can I propose multiple sessions or individual abstracts?

Yes you may. The conference organizing committee will make the final selection and confirmation on which proposals will go through to the conference.

What are the opportunities to exhibit at the conference?

There will be a book exhibition in the conference venue. We are in the process of deciding about the details. We encourage publishers to organize reception and/or book launch during the conference.

Publishers interested in the event, please email teemu.taira[at]helsinki.fi for further information.

How can open sessions Chair(s) submit their abstracts, if they also wish to present a paper in their own session?

We recommend that the Chair(s) submit their individual abstracts via the same the e-form so that their contact e-mail and abstracts are in our system in similar formats. The organizing committee would then forward the preliminary approved abstracts to the contact Chair in January, so the Chair(s) can accept the abstracts they wish. We ask to indicate that you are the chair or co-chair of the session in the abstract e-form.
