With World’s fish stocks dwindling due to overharvesting and environmental degradation, also sportsfishermen are facing a dilemma: to fish or not to fish? Some are selling out their boats, others going for catch-and-release (when possible), or quitting altogether. A tough call.
Here is a captivating picture taken from Lake Ääninen in August 2008. It brings into mind those black & white images from old days when fish – including the Atlantic salmon – were still plenty even in the Finnish lakes. Stunning, excitingand scary at the same time.
