Dr. Magdalena Kmak is a post-doctoral researcher in the project ‘Reinventing the Foundations of European Legal Culture (1934-1964)’. She is also a co-director (together with Dr. Dorota Gozdecka) of the project ‘Law and the Other in Post-Multicultural Europe‘ and the faculty of law, University of Helsinki.
Magdalena received her PhD from the Institute of Law Studies, Polish Academy of Sciences, in 2009. Previously she worked as a university lecturer in international law at the faculty of law, University of Helsinki and as a researcher at the Erik Castrén Institute of International Law and Human Rights, University of Helsinki. Magdalena’s current research focuses on the influence of exile on the development of law. Her research interests encompass exile studies and history of migration, public international law, human rights and international and European refugee and migration law.
