April 7-10, 2016. Hannu Lahtinen presented the paper “The effect of chronic diseases on turnout: a population-based register study” at the MPSA annual conference, Chicago.

March 17-18, 2016. Hanna Wass presented the paper “Sick leave from work and voting booth? A register-based study on health and turnout” at the Finnish Annual Conference of the Finnish Sociological Association, University of Jyväskylä.

March 10-11, 2016. Mikko Mattila presented the paper “Health and Political Engagement” (co-author: Lauri Rapeli) at the Annual Meeting of the Finnish Political Science Association, University of Helsinki.

March 8-9, 2016. Paper “Terveys ja poliittinen kiinnittyminen” [“Health and Political Engagement”] was presented at the seminar organised by the Finnísh National Elections Consortium By Mikko Mattila.

March 2, 2016 Achillefs Papageorgiou presented the paper “Disability, perceived discrimination and political participation” at the Department of Politics and Public Administration Seminar, University of Limerick.

March 18-19, 2015. Hanna Wass and Reijo Sund organised a workshop called “Health and Civic Engagement” at the XLVII Annual Meeting of the Finnish Political Science Association, Åbo Akademi University. Three project papers were presented:

May 8, 2014. A short piece titled “Terveyserot heijastuvat poliittisessa osallistumisessa” was published at the politiikasta.fi website.

Feburary 4-8, 2014. One of the project’s international partners Professor Elisabeth Gidengil (McGill University) visited the department of Political and Economic Studies and our project. As a part of her visit she also gave a public lecture titled “Boosting women’s political resources: the power of women’s social networks”.
