Metropolitan Praxis

‘Pks-Praksis’, that is, Praxis of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, refers to the joint activities in social work practice research and teaching carried out by the University of Helsinki together with municipalities in the Helsinki area in order to develop client work practices. Praxis facilitates cooperation and interaction between the University, the cities and the third sector. The aim is to build and maintain expertise in the social welfare sector within the region and to renew its knowledge base through a practice-based approach.

The Praxis activities rely on collaborative development, research and learning by practitioners, clients, students and researchers. Teaching client work skills and professional competence in the discipline of social work at the University of Helsinki, as well as students’ practice research projects, are a central part of the Praxis activities.

Praxis includes joint activities in child welfare and social work with adults.
