K4: Multiperspective social work practice

The course objective is for students to deepen their professional client work skills in order to serve as social workers together with clients and other professionals. The approach in the seminar is inquiry-based and collaborative.

After having completed the course, students are able to consider in their work the variety, complexity and dynamics of people’s everyday life. They can promote the development of clients’ own agency and carry out multiperspective social work within the client network. They can analyse the activities as a systemic whole and evaluate the position and significance of social work as societal activity and influencing.

During the course students, practice teachers, experts by experience and teachers collaboratively analyse their experiences of client and service processes. The modes of study include seminar work and written assignments based on literature and practice.
