Contacts for Transition

Although Networking has been a key theme for the 2017 ICE students, it’s hard to start building a network if you don’t know who to talk to first, or how to make sure you have the legal rights to work in Helsinki. We heard some great advice on this during our Alumni/Networking event. In case you missed it, below we’ve listed a collection of organizations who take part in your transition into the workforce. While the list is not all inclusive, it is a great place to start!

1) Internships:

1) Internships:

Internships are a great way to gain experience and begin using your cultural knowledge, even before you graduate! Below we list places previous students have studied and some links to companies that look for ICE students. Don’t forget however, that some of these internships were granted because the students just asked the companies to do an internship, even if they weren’t actually offering one! So if you don’t see the company you want below, take the initiative and call your preferred company and ask for your own internship!

The University of Helsinki Funds awards grants and scholarships for undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students as well as researchers. All funds awarding grants are based on donations to the university. All applications and recommendations are registered using the electronic application system Aava. The system can be accessed with a University of Helsinki user account. More information, instructions on how to apply and a link to the application system are available on the website of the University of Helsinki Funds.

Alumni Experiences:

Are you considering doing an internship after or during your studies? Check out the following companies down below. They have provided internship positions for Alumni students in the past.  You might be just the one they are looking for right now. You can also visit the 2016 ICE page and see what some of the students had to say about their internship experience!
