Kerstin von Brömssen, Associate professor from Karlstad University, Department of Social Sciences and Culture, will give an open lecture at the University of Helsinki on Monday 23 February 2015 at 14:15-15:45
Room: Psychologicum Aud K170 (Siltavuorenpenger 1B)
Kerstin von Brömssen is visiting Helsinki through the JustEd Mobility Fellowship programme. Her lecture will focus on right wing extremism in Europe out from the critical incidents in Norway the 22nd of July, 2011. The critical events in Oslo and on Utøya staged by Anders Behring Breivik constituted a major challenge to Norwegian society as the terror-attacks were targeted specifically against Norway as an increasingly multicultural and multireligious society. Not only in Norway, but all over Europe right wing extremism are growing, often referred to as a backdrop of globalization, diversity and complexity. This seminar will especially focus on the so called Manifest by Breivik, as well as on the construction of Eurabia and the Eurabia- literature. It will also open up for a discussion on implications for teaching and learning in this complex globalized learning landscape.
This event is open for everyone free of charge. No need to register in advance.
