Seminar: “Queering the School! Disrupting Heteronormativity in Education”

AGORA, the Nordic Centre of Excellence JustEd, the Department of Teacher Education at Helsinki University and the WeAll Research Project are organising a seminar in Helsinki on 17 May, the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia. The seminar brings together researchers, teachers, students and actors from civil society and politics to discuss how to disrupt heteronormativity in school practices and cultures as well as education politics and policy.

PhD candidates can get ECTS credits from the 17th of May seminar by writing a scientific essay based on the event and prescribed reading.

Since the seminar is mostly in Finnish, those students that don’t speak Finnish can write their essay based on Jón Ingvar Kjaran’s talk and the assigned reading. You can get the instructions and material from Jón (jik@hi.is). Discuss with your PhD instructor about the registration of the ECTS credits.
