ActSHEN

ActSHEN is the acronym for a Nordic collaboration project that stands for Action for Sustainability in Higher Education in the Nordic region. The project focuses on creating and supporting student-centered educational approaches in order to help students take action on sustainability issues. In the first stage of the project, principles have been created to be implemented in courses held by the participating istitutes.

Some of these principles have already been implemented in various courses, such as “Sustainable Development in Teaching”, held by the University of Helsinki.

ActSHEN is funded by Nordplus and it is a cooperational project between the University of Helsinki, University of Island, University of Stockholm, University of Uppsala, Telemark Research Istitute and Island Academy of Arts.

In the University of Helsinki in charge of the project are Maija Aksela (professor), Jaana Herranen and Sakari Tolppanen.
