Doctoral Research

I started my doctoral studies (sub-programme: Administration and Organisations) at the University of Helsinki in September 2008.

Preliminary title of the thesis is “From Destruction to Democratic Revival at Local Level” (based on Estonia).
Several authors have argued that history matters and the legacies of the past can be considered as one explanation why the democratization in different Eastern European countries has followed different paths after the collapse of communism. The aim of the study is to answer a question whether the present local democracy in Estonia is a revival from the past or not; and what has been the role of legacies in the transition.
