Hyvä uusi väitöskirjantekijä,

tervetuloa aloittamaan kieliaineiden tohtoriopintoja! Väitöskirjantekijänä kuulut oman yliopistosi tutkijakoulun tai tohtoriohjelman lisäksi myös Langnetiin. Langnet on kotimainen kielentutkijoiden verkosto, joka yhdistää sekä ihmisiä että yksiköitä. Langnetin tavoite on edistää kielentutkimusta ja erityisesti tohtorikoulutusta. Väitöskirjatutkijat pääsevät Langnetin kautta suoraan sisälle suomalaiseen kielentutkijayhteisöön. Langnetin toimintaan ovat tervetulleita kaikki kieliaineiden väitöskirjatutkijat, ohjaajat, muut tutkijat ja asiantuntijat.

• Langnetin yleisesittelyyn (PowerPoint-diat) voit tutustua täällä.
• Langnetin piirissä toimii teemaryhmiä, jotka järjestävät esimerkiksi seminaareja tai lukupiirejä. Teemaryhmän kautta löydät samantyyppisistä aiheista kiinnostuneita ihmisiä muualtakin kuin omasta yliopistostasi. Tutustu ryhmien tietoihin ja lähde mukaan toimintaan! Voit olla mukana useammassakin ryhmässä. Liittymisohjeet löydät ryhmien sivuilta.
• Liity Langnetin sähköpostilistalle! Sen kautta saat tietoa kielitieteen alan tapahtumista, kursseista, koulutuksista, työpaikoista, väitöksistä ja julkaisuista. Ohjeet liittymiseen löydät tästä.
• Langnetin tapahtumakalenterista löydät Suomessa järjestettäviä kielentutkijoita kiinnostavia tapahtumia.
• Linkkivinkkilistalle kerätään hyödyllisiä linkkejä mm. tieteellisten seurojen ja verkostojen sivuille, sosiaalisen median keskusteluryhmiin, oppaisiin ja tietokantoihin.

Dear new doctoral researcher,

As a member of your university’s graduate school or doctoral programme in language studies, you are also part of the Langnet community. Langnet is a network for researchers in linguistics and language studies working in Finland. We also have affiliated researchers from abroad, who either work with the Finnish language or are of Finnish origin. With the special aim to promote graduate studies, Langnet connects both people and units. Langnet is a great way for researchers of all career stages to stay connected with the community of linguistic scholars in Finland. Langnet welcomes all PhD researchers, supervisors, postdocs and other specialists in language-related studies to join the network.

• You can check out Langnet’s general presentation (PowerPoint slides) here.
• Within the Langnet there are several theme groups that organize seminars and other activities. Through the theme groups, you can find people interested in similar topics from different universities all over Finland. Check out the groups’ information and join the activities! You can participate in more than one theme group. You can find the joining instructions on the theme groups’ pages.
• Join Langnet’s email list! Through it you get information about events, courses, trainings, jobs, dissertations and publications in the field of linguistics. Instructions for joining can be found here.
• In Langnet’s event calendar, you can find events organized in Finland that are of interest to linguists.
• Useful links are collected on the link tips list, e.g. to pages of scientific societies and networks, social media discussion groups, guides and databases.

Being both national and international by nature, Langnet balances between Finnish, Swedish and English. If you need some information in English that is not available on the website or if you need help with emails written in Finnish or Swedish, please do not hesitate to contact the Langnet co-ordinator.
