Rickard Lalander

Rickard Lalander is a social scientist, PhD and associate Professor in Latin American Studies, University of Helsinki. Since the mid 1990’s he has worked as researcher and teacher at the Institute of Latin American Studies, Stockholm University. He has published broadly on democracy in Latin America and is author, among others, of Suicide of Elephants? Venezuelan Decentralization between Partyarchy and Chavismo (2004) Retorno de los Ranakuna. Cotacachi y Otavalo (2010), editor and co-editor of Venezuelan Politics and Society in Times of Chavismo (2006), and a high quantity of articles in academic journals and book chapters. He has closely followed the political evolution of Venezuela since the early 1990’s and collaborates with several universities in Venezuela and other Latin American countries.
