Media Education
Media education is educational science for the information society. The media education research group produces new knowledge and competence created at the interface of media and education, which is then utilised at schools and in teacher education.
Our research group studies and develops the use of ICT and media education. In addition, the research group participates in the development and implementation of basic and extension studies in teacher education.
The media education research group has long international traditions in the development of ICT for teaching, as well as distance learning at the various levels of the Finnish school system. Expertise is based on the extensive and comprehensive teaching and research in various subfields conducted at the department.
The research focus areas are:
- social media in teaching and studying
- spontaneous media skills
- mobile teaching and studying
- a pupil’s pedagogical thinking from the perspective of media education
- the process nature of teaching and studying.
