MinorEuRus

The research project Empowerment and revitalization trends among the linguistic minorities in the European Union and the Russian Federation (MinorEuRus) 2011-2015, funded by The Academy of Finland, focuses on the linguistic minority communities in the European Union and Russia taking a comparative perspective on issues dealing with language death, maintenance and revitalization.

The team members are interested in understanding the diversity of elements that positively influence the commitment of the members of the minority to promote and maintain their languages and cultures. Central for the project is also the emphasis on Russia and the comparative, interdisciplinary approach into many minority communities simultaneously from the viewpoints of several different disciplines.
