“World Social Science Forum” in Bergen, May 10–12, 2009

The NordWel partners University of Bergen and Stein Rokkan Centre together with the International Social Science Council of UNESCO are co-organising a remarkable social science event “World Social Science Forum” in Bergen, May 10–12, 2009.

Stein Kuhnle, a key member of NordWel is chairing or co-chairing two sessions in the event “Pandemics and Social Collapse” and “The Unfinished Agenda – The Legacy of Stein Rokkan for Social Research”

NordWel warmly encourages its members to take part in the Forum. To enable this, we announce 3–5 grants for PhD-students and young post doc -researchers to attend the forum and cover their travel costs.

NordWel-members interested in participating, please submit a motivation letter to Coordinator Anna Alanko (anna.alanko[at]helsinki.fi) by the 6th of February.

There is an open call for abstracts for poster sessions in the forum (abstract dl 1 March). You may apply for a grant even if you are not planning to present at the forum, but please note that applicants aiming to present a poster are prioritised. For details on the call for abstracts, please see the mentioned webpage. Applicants not presenting a poster are required to submit a short report by June 15 th (to Anna Alanko to the mentioned e-mail address).

After the confirmation of their selection, the Forum participants may apply for a travel grant.
