Sino-Nordic seminar on Welfare, SNoW 2012, takes place in Helsinki 4 – 5 June. The seminar is second in the series that started at the University of Fudan in Shanghain in October 2011. The Sino-Nordic cooperation was initiated in connection with the publication of the co-edited book the Nordic Welfare State, published in Chinese by Fudan University Press (editors: by Stein Kuhnle, Klaus Petersen, Pauli Kettunen and Chen Yinzhang). Half of the seminar participants come from China, another half from the two Nordic Centres on Ecxellence, NordWel and REASSESS. The working seminar, aiming at joint publication projects, discusses three broad themes: Labour markets, migration/immigration and social rights; ageing populations as a challenge to social security systems; and welfare norms and institutions.
