PhD-project:
Marianne Garvik’s comparative study focuses on integration- and inclusion politics in Norway, Sweden and Denmark from the 1990s and forward. Specially, she will look into the labour market policy and the “new” diversity discourse. These discursive developments will be analyzed from sources like national key policy documents, EU policy documents, legal frameworks, legislations and media debates. Furthermore the project will describe key features of the reforms linked to discrimination and working life; analyze principal challenges for a labour market integration strategy e.g. the use of anti-discrimination laws or more traditionally cooperation between the labour market parties and the national political authorities – and consider how these challenges have been met in the different Nordic countries. An emphasis is placed on the restructuring of labour market, as well as to changing frameworks of citizenship and welfare.
