Frida Boräng’s dissertation project concerns how national institutions in the areas of labour market policy and welfare policy affects policies towards international migrants. More specifically, she investigates a) the relationship between regulations on the labour market and the intake of labour migrants – the hypothesis being that more regulation will lead to less labour migration – and b) the relationship between welfare state generosity and the acceptance of forced migrants, where the hypothesis is that more generous welfare states will accept more forced migrants. 21 OECD countries are included in the study.
