North American Studies at the University of Helsinki represents a multidisciplinary approach to both American and Canadian history and culture. Our teaching and research include North American politics, literature, environmental history, media studies, popular culture, and indigeneous studies. The University of Helsinki is the only one in Finland to offer teaching up to Ph.D. degree in North American Studies. We offer our teaching under the Cultural Studies B.A. Program and the Area and Cultural Studies M.A. Program at the University Helsinki. (Neither of those have a website in English.)

Most of our teaching in North American Studies in Helsinki is held in Finnish, but for courses in English, see the Opetus/Teaching page. https://blogs.helsinki.fi/pohjois-amerikan-tutkimus/opetusteaching/
