Kino Umbra jatkaa Kino Polhon viime vuonna aloittamaa elokuvakerhoa nyt yhteistyössä Tason kanssa. Useamman järjestäjän voimin yritämme pitää elokuvailtoja vielä monipuolisemmin ja useammin kuin aiemmin. Elokuvat tulevat vaihtelemaan aina Hollywood-elokuvista surrealistisiin taide-elokuviin, niin kuin illan konseptikin vaihtelee keskustelua painottavista elokuvamaratoneihin. Jokaiselle illalle pyrimme kuitenkin miettimään elokuvaan sopivan teeman. Jos elokuva ei teeman kysymyksiin riittävän hyvin vastaa, tarjoaa hämyinen Weber tilan halukkaille jatkaa keskustelua vaikkapa yhden huurteisen kera. Viime vuoden perinteen mukaan tarjolla on elokuvaan löyhästi liittyvää syötävää ja juotavaa.
Vuoden ensimmäisen elokuvaillan teema on järjestelmään kohdistuva viha. Viha kumpuaa ulkopuolisuudesta ja sillä ei ole mitään rakentavaa sanottavaa. Se on vihaa, joka haluaa aiheuttaa tuhoa. Vihaa, joka näyttäytyy mellakoissa, joissa tuhotaan poliisiautoja ja rikotaan liikkeiden ikkunoita ilman sen suurempaa poliittista päämäärää. Illan elokuva ”La Haine” (1995) pureutuu tähän ilmiöön seuraamalla 20 tuntia kolmea maahanmuuttajataustaista lähiönuorta Pariisin lähiömellakoiden jälkeen. Se sukeltaa syvälle nuorten turhautuneeseen mielenmaisemaan, jota sävyttää epätoivo, pelko ja viha.

Kino Umbra is a film society organized by Taso and Polho that follows the tradition of Kino Polho. With more organizers, we try to show even more films with a bigger variety than earlier. The movies will differ from Hollywood films to surrealistic art movies, as well as the concept of the night differs from emphasizing discussions to movie marathons. For every night, we will also figure out a theme that relates to the movie. If the movie hasn´t provided all the answers to it, Weber offers a space for an open discussion after the movie. Following the last years tradition there will be some snacks and drinks provided.
The theme of our first night will be anger towards society. Anger that stems from exclusion. Anger that is just wanting to destroy. Anger that can be seen in riots were police cars are burned and windows of stores are smashed. The movie of the night “La Haine” (1995) deals with this phenomena by following three young immigrants, from the suburbs of Paris, for 20 hours, after large riots have occurred in the suburbs. It dives into the mindscape of the young immigrants that is filled with fear, despair and anger.
