WP3b Anti-populist Counter-Speech in Hybrid Media Systems

This work package investigates the interaction of anti-populist online civic activism and mainstream journalism as a form of discursive resistance to the normalisation of exclusionary populism in Finland and Sweden. The study analyses the different varieties, traditions and efficacy of anti-populist
counter-speech in two Nordic hybrid media systems and participates in the discussion on the role and compatibility of online communication in the normalisation processes of political populism. The research materials consist of social media data-sets, news journalism, and interviews with journalists and online activists.
