Note: Some of the doctoral education (transferable skills or scientific) courses are very popular and there is a long queue for the courses. In case registered participant does not cancel his/her but does not show on a course someone misses the opportunity to participate.

Therefore, if doctoral candidate does not show on two courses organized despite registration (and without cancellation) by the DSHealth/Doctoral programme within 12 months, he/she is not entitled to DSHealth/Doctoral programme travel grants in the next application round.

DPDR continues an on-line call for visiting travel grants for year 2017.
– The grants are intended for scientific work outside own working place (i.e. not for congress or course participation) in laboratories and institutions for minimally 2 weeks period for work.
– DPDR Board decides these on-line grant applications, submitted for 4.9.2017 at the latest, next time 11.9.2017.

DPDR will open a call of travel grants for Finnish-Swedish travels. The call is open 19.-31.5.2017. The decision will be made in 20.6.2017 Board meeting.

Travel grants are intended for:

– Especially visits for scientific work in laboratories and institutions in Sweden to acquire new skills and methods, in order to improve the applicant’s PhD thesis work and training.
– Swedish courses in drug research or toxicology field.
– Swedish congresses, such as NorDoc Summit 2017 in Karolinska Institutet, Sweden 21.-22.8.2017, in drug research or toxicology field.

The eligible grant applicant:

– Is a member of DPDR
– Is registered at the University of Helsinki for the academic year 2017-2018 at the time of travel

Applications

– Only one application/Doctoral candidate will be evaluated in the call (in case of multiple submissions, the latest will be subjected for evaluation)

Decisions

The amount of awarded grant will be decided case-by-case.

For working visits a letter of invitation is required in case of positive decision of the grant.

Doctoral candidates (started after year 2013) who have follow up / thesis committee meeting(s) held annually are strongly preferred.

Additional criteria:

– Max. 1 travel grant for the same conference/course/visit
– Max. number of DPDR/DSHealth travel grants/year:

* max. 1 Chancellor’s travel grant, and
* max. UH Funds’ travel grant, and
* max. 1 DP travel grant for a research visit, and
* max. 1 DP travel grant for a meeting/course in Finland, and
* max. 1 grant for the NorDoc Summit 2017 (UH Sci Foundation), and
* max. 1 grant for a NorDoc course in 2017 (DSHealth funding)

All applicants will be informed about the decision.

Starting again at 1.3.2017, DPDR continues an on-line call for visiting travel grants for year 2017.
– The grants are intended for scientific work outside own working place (i.e. not for congress or course participation) in laboratories and institutions for minimally 2 weeks period for work.
– DPDR Board decides these on-line grant applications, submitted for 9.5.2017 at the latest, next time 16.5.2017.

Chancellor’s and Doctoral Programme in Drug Research (DPDR) travel grants for international or national visits on 2017 – call is open

Doctoral candidates of the DPDR of the University of Helsinki are invited to apply for DPDR travel grants. The call is open 2.-28.2.2017.

Travel grants are intended for:

A) Especially international or national visits for scientific work in laboratories and institutions to acquire new skills and methods in order to improve the applicant’s PhD thesis work and training.
– A visit  is minimally 2 weeks period for work.
– In case of visits to potential post doc laboratories, it is highly recommended that the applicant is planning to visit more than one laboratory during the same trip.

B) International or national courses in drug research or toxicology field.

C) International or national congresses in drug research or toxicology field.
– Either oral or poster presentation at the conference and (1st author) presentation is required.

The support is for travel and accommodation costs and other possible visit related expenses such as participation fees.

The eligible grant applicant:

– Is a member of DPDR
– Is registered at the University of Helsinki for the academic year 2017-2018 at the time of travel
– Will visit abroad or outside Helsinki in Finland in year 2017 for his/her PhD project

Applications

– Scientific conferences: max. 800 € for a trip within Europe, and max. 1500 € for a trip overseas
– Scientific courses: max. 800 € for a trip within Europe, and max. 1500 € for a trip overseas

– International or national congresses in drug research or toxicology field.

 Doctoral candidates of the DPDR of the University of Helsinki are invited to apply for Chancellor’s and DPDR travel grants for research visits during 2016. The call is open 1.-23.3.2016.

Travel grants are intended for:

– International or national visits for scientific work in laboratories and institutions to acquire new skills and methods, in order to improve  applicant’s PhD thesis work and training.

– International or national courses in drug research or toxicology field.

– International or national congresses in drug research or toxicology field.

The support is for travel and accommodation costs and other possible visit related expenses such as participation fees.

The eligible grant applicant:

– Is a member of DPDR

– Is registered at the University of Helsinki for the academic year 2016 at the time of travel

– Will visit abroad or outside Helsinki in Finland in year 2016 for his/her PhD project

– Will enclose all receipts related to the travel expenses with the travel expense report by 15.12.2016

– Only one application/Doctoral candidate will be evaluated in the call (in case of multiple submissions, the latest will be subjected for evaluation)

– A prerequisite for a conference travel grant is that the applicant will have oral  or poster presentation at the conference.

Amount of the Chancellor’s grant:

– Conferences: max. 800 € for a trip within Europe, and max. 1500 € for a trip to other continents

– Courses: max. 800 € for a trip within Europe, and max. 1500 € for a trip to other continents

– Work visits max. 1500 €/trip

Chancellor’s travel grants can be combined with the University of Helsinki Funds’ Travel Grants 2016 (see the call in DSHealth News< http://www.helsinki.fi/health/>).

DPDR grants for international or national visits for scientific work in laboratories and institutions requires minimally 2 weeks period for work. DPDR travel grants can also be used for domestic travel. In addition, the amount of awarded DPDR grant may be more than maximally defined for Chancellor’s travel grants.

Applications

The application is submitted as electronic form 23.3.2016 at the latest.

The grant cannot be applied for a trip that has already been completed.

The amount of awarded grant will be decided case-by-case.

For working visits a letter of invitation is required in case of positive decision of the grant.

Doctoral students of the DPDR of the University of Helsinki are invited to apply for travel grants for research visits in year 2015 or 2016. The support is for travel and accommodation costs and other possible visit related expenses such as participation fees. Note: in case the applicant has received Chancellor’s travel grant in year 2015 this support cannot be used for the same travel

Chancellor’s Travel Grants 2015 for Doctoral Candidates in the Doctoral School in Health Sciences’ (DSHealth): Call for applications Feb 17 – March 10, 2015

DSHealth doctoral candidates are welcome to apply for Chancellor’s Travel Grants 2015 from February 17 (from 12.00 noon) to March 10, 2015 (closing at 3.45 pm) via the electronic AAVA application platform. The Chancellor’s Travel Grant can be used to cover travel costs, such as transportation, accommodation and registrations fees

  1. PURPOSE OF THE CHANCELLOR’S TRAVEL GRANT 2015 in DSHealth

The Chancellor’s Travel Grants can be applied for the following purposes:

3.1 Travel grant for a conference or practical course abroad

  • In the case of conferences either an oral or poster (1st author) presentation is required.
  • The grants are allocated on the basis of the relevance of the course or meeting for the applicant.

3.2.Travel grant for a research visit to collaborating laboratory abroad

  • After closing the call, potential grantees will be contacted by e-mail and asked for the invitation letter of the hosting laboratory, and a short recommendation letter from the supervisor

3.3 Travel grant for visiting potential post doc laboratories abroad

  • It is highly recommended that the applicant is planning to visit more than one potential post doc laboratory during the same trip
  • After closing the call, potential grantees will be contacted by e-mail and asked for the invitation letter of the hosting laboratory

NB! for the same trip you can be awarded a travel grant either from DSHealth or your doctoral programme.
