Self-Governing Associations in Northwestern Russia: Common Things as the Foundation for Res Publica

The project “Self-Governing Associations in Northwestern Russia: Common Things as the Foundation for Res Publica”, was funded by the Academy of Finland as a part of the research programme “Russia in flux” in 2004-2007. The project was led by Professor Risto Alapuro (University of Helsinki). Sites of the research were Department of Sociology at the University of Helsinki and the European University at St. Petersburg.

The project studied the developments in self-governing associations, linked to the recent Russian reform of municipal self-government.
