Pyökkipuiston koulu

Pyökkipuiston koulu sijaitsee kantakaupungissa, raitiovaunukiskojen äärellä. Tässä urbaanin monikulttuurisessa oppilaitoksessa monenlaiset oppilaat kohtaavat toisensa. Koulusta löytyy sekä kymppi- että kielikylpyryhmiä; osa oppilaista on oman kaupunginosan kasvatteja, osa saapuu opinahjoonsa kauempaakin. Pieni koko ja erilaiset opetuskokeilut muodostavat ilmapiirin, jossa erityyliset oppijat työskentelevät yhdessä.

Kyselyyn vastanneista oppilaista noin puolet oli 9. luokan keväällä hakeutumassa lukioon ja puolet ammatilliseen oppilaitokseen. Myös koulutustavoitteet jakautuivat melko tasaisesti ammatillisen ja yliopistokoulutuksen välillä. Lähes puolet kyselyyn vastanneista oli kuitenkin vielä epävarmoja tavoittelemastaan koulutuksesta.

Located in the downtown area along a tramline, Pyökkipuisto is an urban and multicultural school which brings together people from diverse backgrounds. There are language immersion classes and a 10^th grade in the school. The pupils come from the neighborhood as well as from further off. The school’s small size and different kinds of pedagogical experiments provide an atmosphere where different kinds of learners are able to work together.

About a half of the respondents were heading for upper secondary school education and the other half for vocational training. The pupils’ educational goals varied quite evenly between academic and vocational degrees, although almost a half of the respondents were unable to specify the degree they wish to achieve.
