University of Helsinki alumni and other fans of green roofs had the chance to visit the university’s test green roof at the university language centre. After a brief presentation by Researcher Marja Mesimäki the visitors got to climb up to the language centre’s top floor and admire the view from the green roof.
The green roof has just been installed and is just a small prototype, but it exhibits what kind of plants and materials that can be used to make a functioning green roof. A well-planned green roof helps to cool down the building and contains urban runoff, and as a plus, it is also a nice place to relax.
Thanks to all who attended the green roof excursions!
