The subject of the study for my doctoral dissertation is the family in the Finnish welfare society from the 1960s to the present day. The transformation of the family ideals and practices that guide families towards their own well-being are the primary interests of my study. What is traced are, first, the social ruptures and innovations by the expertises which have facilitated the emergence of a certain family ideal and, second, the mechanisms of social government and self-government.
The work is part of the Finnish Academy project The Ethos of Nordic Welfare. It is also part of the national Gender System Graduate School. From 2001 to 2002 I was a doctoral student in the Finnish Post-Graduate School in the Social Sciences (SOVAKO).
My other research interests concern questions on sex/gender, sexuality, sex education and sexual politics. Before I have done inquiries on university student’s subsistence and studies.
