Scribal Circle – Kirjuripiiri

The project Act of the Scribe has established a Scribal Circle, a casual research community for all scholars interested in the correlation between the writer of a text and variation in language production. The first meeting of the Scribal Circle will take place on Wednesday 11th October from 6 to 8 pm in Metsätalo building, University of Helsinki, room 4 (first floor, take a left and a few stairs up from the main entrance). As speaker, we will have Aleksi Mäkilähde (U Turku) talking about his dissertation topic:

“Multimodality and layering in the Orationes manuscript: Some notes on code-switching and other ‘discourse strategies'”

Other presenters during the autumn:
8th November Jesse Keskiaho (U Helsinki)
13th December Sebastian Fink (U Helsinki)

The meeting language will be English (unless there are only Finns present). We will meet approximately once a month on Wednesdays. You are all warmly welcome to attend! Do also feel free to pass on the information to anyone who might be interested.

If you wish to join the e-mail list, send a message to Sonja Dahlgren.
