[EN] Better teaching and learning – funding to apply for!

This is an open call for development of teaching and learning at the Faculty of Science. The Faculty will fund a number of small projects by teachers and students. Funding per project can be at most two hundred euros. [Edit 10/2019: funding limited to 200€ due to budget constraints.]

Examples of possible objectives:

  • Development of teaching (developing a new course, new materials or new methods etc.)
  • To support learning (students’/teachers’ development projects, developing learning environments, etc.)
  • Professional development as a teacher (meetings, conferences, trips, courses etc.)

Application guidelines:

  • A free-form proposal, approx. 1 page, including:
    • Actions and objectives of the project
    • Applied funding and a short plan for its use
  • Coordinate your application with the relevant degree programme(s)
  • Students may also submit proposals; they should be coordinated with the relevant student association (and degree programmes, where relevant)
  • Send your application by email to the vice dean for teaching at hannu.toivonen@helsinki.fi with subject “Application for faculty funding” and copy the application email to the head(s) of the relevant programmes (or the chairperson of the student association).
  • Proposals are accepted throughout the academic year.

The projects that will get funding will be published in this blog, using the material submitted with the proposal. The person in charge of the project can be asked to present the project e.g. in Faculty events for the development of teaching.

The pedagogical university lecturers in Kumpula and the members of the group for the development of teaching are happy to help you with your project ideas.

[FI] Opetuksen ja oppimisen parhaaksi – avustusta haettavana!

Matemaattis-luonnontieteellinen tiedekunta tukee opettajien, opiskelijoiden ja koulutusohjelmien omista tarpeista ja ideoista lähtevää opetuksen kehittämistä. Kehittämisen tueksi ja kannusteeksi tiedekunta myöntää avustuksia (korkeintaan kaksi sataa eura/hanke). [Edit 10/2019: rahoituksen yläraja toistaiseksi 200 € rahoituksen niukkuuden vuoksi.]

Avustusta voi hakea esimerkiksi

  • Opetuksen kehittämiseen (uuden kurssin, opetusmateriaalin, -menetelmien tai -välineiden kehittäminen ym.)
  • Oppimisen tukemiseen (opiskelijoiden/opettajien kehittämisprojektit, oppimisympäristöjen kehittäminen ym.)
  • Opettajien ammatilliseen kehittymiseen (kokous- ja konferenssimatkat, muu koulutus ym.)

Hakuohjeet:

  • Vapaamuotoinen noin yhden sivun mittainen hakemus, josta käy ilmi
    • kehittämistoimet tavoitteineen ja
    • niiden kustannusarvio sekä tiedekunnalta haettu rahoitus.
  • Neuvottele hakemuksestasi niiden koulutusohjelmien kanssa, joihin hanke liittyy.
  • Opiskelijat voivat myös hakea rahoitusta. Siitä pitää neuvotella sopivan ainejärjestön kanssa (ja tilanteen mukaan koulutusohjelman).
  • Lähetä hakemus opetuksen varadekaanille osoitteeseen hannu.toivonen@helsinki.fi otsikolla “Avustushakemus tiedekunnalle” ja kopiona kopiona myös relevanttien ohjelmien johtajille (tai ainejärjestön puheenjohtajalle).
  • Hakemuksia voi jättää ympäri lukuvuoden ilman hakuaikaa.

Rahoitetut hankkeet julkaistaan tässä blogissa käyttäen em. hakemusmateriaalia, ja hakemusten tekijöitä voidaan kutsua jakamaan kokemuksiaan esim. opetuksen kehittämistapahtumiin.

Opetuksen kehittämisessä tukea antavat mm. kampuksen pedagogiset yliopistonlehtorit sekä tiedekunnan opetuksenkehittämisryhmä. Näihin voi mielellään olla yhteydessä omaa kehittämiskohdetta kypsytellessä.
