“Indo-Pacific” is a new, currently hotly debated geographic concept, developed on the geostrategic logic to view the rising China, symbolized in its BRI, in an extended geographical context. The geographic definitions are contested, thus EUVIP complies with the EU definition according to which the region spans from the east coast of Africa to the Pacific Island states. It regards the Indo-Pacific as an increasingly well interconnected region with Southeast Asia (geographically) and ASEAN (institutionally) at its heart.
The Indo-Pacific is a novel and very broad field of studies and exceeds the expertise of each consortium member but provides an opportunity to combine their knowledge and different approaches. On our website, we organize and share resources to facilitate students and researchers’ exploration of this rising field.
