I was inspired to start Exile-as-Method by conversations I had with my friend, artist Ida Palojärvi about silk ikat textile I received as a gift few years ago.

Ikat is a technique used to pattern textiles where the pattern is dyed on yarn before the weaving takes place (read more). We were inspired by counterintuitiveness of this technique and thought how it can be applied to our work.
