Jisc Library Hub Discover exposes rare and unique research material by bringing together the catalogues of major UK and Irish libraries. In a single search you can discover the holdings of the UK’s National Libraries (including the British Library), many university libraries, and specialist research libraries. This service replaces Copac and SUNCAT.

Library Hub Discover is one of three services built on the Jisc National Bibliographic Knowledgebase, a growing collaboration with an increasing number of libraries contributing to the shared database, to benefit the academic and broader research community as well as local library activity and developments. The Kalliope-Verbund catalogue

Kalliope is an information system for collections of personal papers, manuscripts, and publishers’ archives.

Founded by the Berlin State Library – Prussian Cultural Heritage with financial support from the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG) in 2001, Kalliope superseded the Central Register of Autographs (Zentralkartei der Autographen, ZKA), which was established in 1966.

The initial data base of Kalliope was formed by 1,2 million catalog cards of the ZKA that had been provided by 450 institutions over a period of more than 30 years. The conversion of these cards into a machine-readable format was completed in 2006. Learn more.

Biblissima

Biblissima is an online digital library, which provides easy and coordinated access to documentation on manuscripts and early printed books, the texts contained therein, their circulation and their readers, from the 8^th to 18^th centuries (digitisations of early documents, documentary databases, editions, as well as tools to understand these documents and to produce new data). It is equipment for research, learning and diffusion, meant both for scholars and for a wider audience.

The Biblissima Portal provides unified access to a set of digital data on medieval manuscripts, incunabula and early printed books produced by the partners of the Biblissima consortium.

The IIIF collections search engine (a prototype application) allows you to search across IIIF-compliant manuscripts and rare books dated before 1800 coming from many digital libraries in the world. It is a work in progress, the platform is updated and enriched on a regular basis.

Österreichisches Nationalbibliothek looks back to a history rich in tradition going as far as the 14th century. It is a living bridge between the rich heritage of the past and the future-oriented demands of a modern information society. As a service-oriented information centre, the Austrian National Library offers its users access and professional advice on its own holdings (over 10.9 million objects) and also on international data pools. It also accepts commissions on scientific research, and operates documentation centres and service facilities, for example on literature specifically devoted to women’s studies. Das Bundesarchiv has the legal mandate to secure the archives of the federal government in the long term and to make them available for use. These are documents (including files, maps, pictures, posters, films and sound recordings in analogue and digital form) that have been produced by central offices of the Holy Roman Empire (1495-1806), the German Confederation (1815-1866), of the German Reich (1867/71-1945), the Occupation Zones (1945-1949), the German Democratic Republic (1949-1990) and the Federal Republic of Germany (since 1949). The Vatican Library

The Vatican Library contains original manuscripts, coins, visual materials and much more produced by the Vatican from around the middleages upuntil 1800. The material is largely in latin or italian, but the page is available in Italian as well as in English.

DigiVatLib is based on the International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF) technology, making digital materials easily accessible and usable. Learn more

ENGLISH SHORT TITLE CATALOGUE

The ESTC contains catalogue entries for items issued in Britain, Ireland, overseas territories under British colonial rule, and the United States. Also included is material printed elsewhere which contains significant text in English, Welsh, Irish or Gaelic, as well as any book falsely claiming to have been printed in Britain or its territories.

The database contains over 480,000 entries, and represents the holdings of some 2,000 libraries world-wide. Learn more

Digital Bodleian

Digital Bodleian first launched in 2015 with the aim of bringing together digitized content from the Bodleian Libraries’ extraordinary and rich collections into a single portal. The Bodleian Libraries have been digitizing content since the early 1990s and Digital Bodleian was and is designed to enable access to that content for the widest possible audience.

The collection contains images of rare books, manuscripts and art mostly from the Medieval and Modern Ages.
