CV in a nutshell


Anne Maria Holli, PhD, Docent, is Professor of Political Science at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Helsinki, Finland. She has published widely nationally and internationally on gender and politics and Finnish policy-making institutions and processes. Her recent publications include articles in Parliamentary Affairs, Electoral Studies, Social Politics, European Journal of Political Research, Representation, Politics & Gender and International Feminist Journal of Politics; chapters on Finland in States of Gender Democracy,. Gender and Politics in the European Union (Routledge 2015), Women and Representation in Local Government. International Case Studies (Routledge, 2011), Feminism and Political Representation of Women in Europe and North America (Cambridge University Press, 2005), Reconfigured States and Opportunities: Comparative Women’s Movement Strategies since the 1990s (Rowman & Littlefield, 2007), and Changing State Feminism  (Palgrave, 2007)  as well as two co-authored books dealing with the parliamentary standing committees and gender and local politics in Finland (in Finnish).

Dr. Holli has participated in many international and national research project, also in leading roles. She was the editor of the Finnish gender studies journal in 2004-5; has served in the editorial board of Politics & Gender, Politiikka and Naistutkimus; and been referee to numerous international journals as well as organised and chaired panels at international conferences. She served as Chair to IPSA RC19: Gender policy and politics (2014-16) and as Subject Head in her discipline (2016-1/18) and Director and Vice-Director of its M.A. and B.A. Programmes (2016) at Helsinki University. Dr. Holli was the recipient of the Wilma Rule award for best paper in gender and politics in IPSA World Conference 2009.
