The International Committee (IC) is a vibrant and dynamic platform dedicated to the enrichment and advocacy of international students’ lives at the University of Helsinki. At its heart, the IC is about creating connections, celebrating diversity, and building an inclusive community where every student’s voice is heard and valued. By organizing a wide array of cultural celebrations and events, from Diwali to Christmas, and actively engaging in meaningful advocacy, the IC strives to ensure that the transition and integration into Finnish student life are as smooth and enriching as possible. Whether it’s through language exchange programs, career development workshops, or simply brainstorming solutions to common challenges, the IC is committed to empowering students to bring their authentic selves to our community. Join us to be part of a committee where realistic commitment, authentic diversity, equal communication, and an achievable vision are not just ideals, but the foundation of our collective action.

A committee that is run by and for international and internationally-minded students.

Our Shared Values

Our shared values emphasize commitment, authenticity, and collaborative progress, fostering a community where diversity is celebrated, communication is open, and the future of international students is a collective priority.

We make a commitment to give our time to the committee but we’re realistic and honest about the amount of tasks we can carry, ensuring we can rely on each other.

We commit to bringing our authentic selves to this space and appreciate our collective diversity, creating a sense of fun and belonging.

We communicate as equals with clarity and maturity, creating a space of positive thinking and teamwork where we can challenge each other without fear of it being personal.

We commit to setting clear achievable goals, whilst always keeping an eye on how our work can benefit future generations of international students.
