In our New Year Seminar, we aim to delve deep into the roots and continuities of inequality and changes in different forms of discrimination in various areas of societies. Discrimination has existed for as long as humanity itself, and in order to understand the current state of the world, we must understand inequalities in the past. The workshops concentrate on different areas of inequalities – you can check a full list of the workshops here. Other academic programme of the seminar will consist of key-note lectures, and a roundtable discussion about inequalities in work and working life. To introduce the participants to the history of Helsinki and its surroundings, we will also plan a day trip to Espoo and a museum visit.

Lastly, not forgetting fun non-academic activities, we will show the participants around Helsinki and get them acquainted with the local student life. And yes, of course, there will be a sauna visit at some point of the week, in addition to the traditional sitsit (a fun dinner party!) combined with a National Food and Drinks Party!
