Board 2022

President: Riina Nikulainen

I’m Riina, a fifth-year Society and Change programme student. I am currently working on my thesis under the Social and Economic history discipline. On the side I have studied politics and economics.

This is my second full year in ISHA Helsinki, and I hope to bring new members through our activities to ISHA Helsinki this year.

As a fun fact I am a gothic horror enthusiast, and I will often try and sneak the topic into different areas of my life.

Favourite foods: Curry and sour sweeties.

Hi everyone! I’m Maisa, a second-year BA student in Society & Change, majoring in Political History. I’m interested in a wide variety of historical topics, from 19th-century imperial history to the politics of history in the present day. In my free time, I enjoy musical theatre in various languages, playing the piano and singing, as well as writing and reading speculative and historical fiction.

This is my second year doing ISHA and I’m very excited that we’ll, in all likelihood, actually get to organise in-person events! :D Hope to meet you there :)

Favourite food: My DIY cheese-and-fruit salad :D it’s good I promise

Secretary: Dritëro Ferri

Hey there! I’m Dritëro and I’m in my second year at the Swedish programme in History here in Helsinki. This is my first year in ISHA and I hope to do my part in helping this student association rise from the ashes of the pandemic.

In my spare time I enjoy seeing friends, and spending time with family, as well as teaching myself various tunes on the mandolin. I also enjoy trying new coffee recipes with my dear moka pot or making pizza when I should be submitting assignments. Most of my leisure time probably goes towards reading about Balkan history and politics as well as other books. I am of the opinion that politics is something one definitely ought to bring up when meeting new people — what better way to instantly learn about somebody’s values ;)

Favourite foods: Never thought I’d ever hear myself say this but: pizza and burgers. Hope I didn’t come off as too Canadian there.

Communications representative: Henna Korkiakangas

Hello everyone, I am Henna, a student of Society and Change, majoring in political history. I’m especially interested in gender equality and political economy. In my free time you can find me wandering in art museums or the streets of Töölö. I also love reading and I’m always up for a chat about books or breaking the patriarchy.

This is my first year in ISHA and I’m very excited about it. As ISHAs communications representative I would be beyond happy to get any kinds of feedback about our activities and communications from our members. I hope to see many of you at our events!

Favourite foods: La cucina italiana

Environment responsible: Noora Honkola

Hi there! I’m Noora, a third year BA student in politics and communication, majoring in communication and world politics. I’m currently writing my bachelor’s thesis so that is keeping me pretty occupied at the moment. Otherwise you can usually find me at the gym or in a sushi buffet.

This will be my third year in ISHA as I gladly handed over the role of the president for Riina and will focus on keeping ISHA’s activity ecological this year. I’m looking forward to hopefully being able to organize face-to-face events, finally!

Favorite food: Yep, you guessed it; sushi😋

Treasurer: Elina Sipilä

Hey, I’m Elina! I am studying my 2nd year of MA studies at the Society and Change programme and I’m majoring in economic and social history. Currently I’m working on my master’s thesis on the development of climate change discourses in the Finnish media.

I began my “ISHA career” in the 2018 ISHA Helsinki board and was swept along in the international atmosphere after attending the summer seminar in Warsaw 2018. I’ve also been balancing ISHA work as the president of ISHA International since January 2021 and looking forward to continuing to contribute to ISHA both on local and international levels. Outside university and organisation work I like going outside in nature, knitting and listening to music and podcasts, and watching TV shows and movies.

Favorite foods: anything veggie with rice. also pizza and ice cream!
