Multilingual WikiTalk

Multilingual WikiTalk – English and Japanese (YouTube).

WikiTalk currently works in English, Finnish and Japanese. The Finnish localization was developed by the Academy of Finland DigiSami project. The Japanese localization was developed by Graham Wilcock at Doshisha University, Japan.

In this video the robot speaks English with an English speaker and speaks Japanese with a Japanese speaker. He talks about Shakespeare and other topics using both English and Japanese Wikipedias. The robot switches to Japanese when the Japanese speaker says Nihongo and back to English when the English speaker says English.

A demo and a paper about multilingual WikiTalk were presented at 24th International Conference on Computational Linguistics (COLING 2016) in Osaka, Japan.
