Multilingual Practices II
Doctoral course
Oulu, 20-21 November 2018

Usage-based approaches to multilingualism are an ever growing field of study among linguists around the world. Among the questions addressed in the course are:
• How do multilingual practices manifest themselves in language use
• How does people’s multilingual language use reflect their cognition, social relations and the linguistic system
• How can multilingual practices be studied within usage-based grammatical and sociolinguistic frameworks

The course is taught by Ad Backus (University of Tilburg) and organized by the University of Oulu SIIN (Social Interaction and Involvement Network). Participants will have the chance hold a 10 minute presentation of their work, book a consultation with an advisor, and/or receive feedback on a paper they’re preparing. When registering, please indicate which form of participation you prefer. We will also need to know if you are attending on both days or not. Please register for the course on Wednesday 14 November 2018 at the latest.
