—————————————————————————————————————-

We invite you to participate the L2 Pronunciation Research Symposium to be held in Jyväskylä, Finland, the 6th-7th November 2019!

The symposium brings together researchers working on second (foreign) language pronunciation, e.g. acquisition, intelligibility, comprehensibility, accentedness, accent perceptions and language attitudes. The aim is to provide a possibility to present one’s own research and to network. The symposium is inspired by the workshop Nordic Research on Accent, Acceptability and Acquisition (NordAc3), organised in Kiel in March 2019. After the symposium, there will be a possibility to attend a research meeting on networking on L2 pronunciation topics and planning activities for a Nordic research network on L2 pronunciation.

The invited speakers are:

Ocke-Schwen Bohn, Aarhus University

Ineke Mennen, University of Graz

Barbara Soukup, Austrian Academy of Sciences

Lisa Tulaja, Kiel University

Elisabeth Zetterholm, Linköping University

In addition to the invited speakers, two local projects will be introduced: Focus on learning pronunciation: Swedish as L1/L2 and Broken Finnish: Accent perceptions in societal gatekeeping. There will also be time slots designated to participants’ presentations. Preferred presentation format is poster, but a limited number of oral presentations will also be included in the programme. The abstract submission is now open. More information about abstract submission and the symposium in general is available at https://www.jyu.fi/en/congress/l2pronunciation

Please forward this message to your colleagues and students who might be interested in participating the symposium.
