The project Act of the Scribe (Academy of Finland) has established a Scribal Circle, a casual research community for all scholars interested in the correlation between the writer of a text and variation in language production. The first meeting of the Scribal Circle will take place on Wednesday 11th October from 6 to 8 pm in Metsätalo building, University of Helsinki, room 4 (first floor, take a left and a few stairs up from the main entrance). As speaker, we will have Aleksi Mäkilähde (UT) talking about his dissertation topic:
“Multimodality and layering in the Orationes manuscript: Some notes on code-switching and other ‘discourse strategies'”.
The meeting language will be English (unless there are only Finns present). We will meet approximately once a month on Wednesdays. You are all warmly welcome to attend! Do also feel free to pass on the information to anyone who might be interested.
