“Anestesiologian ja tehohoidon perusteet sisältää tärkeimmät anestesiaan, tehohoitoon, ensihoitoon ja kivun hoitoon liittyvät perusperiaatteet ja niiden fysiologisen taustan. Kirjassa perehdytään yleisanestesia- ja puudutusmenetelmiin ja valvontasuosituksiin sekä käydään läpi leikkaussalianestesiologian perusteet sisältäen leikkausta edeltävän arvioinnin sekä sen jälkeisen seurannan. Kirjassa käsitellään kriittisesti sairastuneen tunnistamista ja hoitoa sekä esitellään uudistetut elvytysohjeet. Oleellisena osana kirjassa ovat nestehoidon ja peruselintoimintojen valvonnan periaatteet sekä niiden toteutus käytännössä. Tehohoidon osuus kattaa tehohoidon keskeisten kliinisten ongelmien diagnostiikan ja hoidon. Teoksessa tarkastellaan akuutin ja kroonisen kivun hoitoa sekä käsitellään potilaan ja omaisten kohtaamiseen liittyviä erityiskysymyksiä. Havainnolliset taulukot tukevat asioiden omaksumista ja mieleen palauttamista. Teos on erityisesti tarkoitettu oppikirjaksi lääketieteen opiskelijoille, mutta se soveltuu hyvin lähdeteokseksi sairaanhoitajaopintoihinkin. Teoksesta on hyötyä myös leikkaussali- tai valvontahoitotyötä tekeville ammattilaisille.”

” Edistämällä seksuaali- ja lisääntymisterveyttä ja kaventamalla terveyseroja parannetaan väestön terveyttä ja hyvinvointia. Päivitetyn seksuaali- ja lisääntymisterveyden toimintaohjelman painopistealueita ovat lapset ja nuoret, miesten seksuaali- ja lisääntymisterveys, monikulttuurisuus ja hyvä syntymän hoito. Kirjassa esitetään tavoitteita ja niihin liittyviä toimenpiteitä seksuaali- ja lisääntymisterveyden edistämiseksi vuoteen 2020 mennessä. Esitetyt tavoitteet ja toimenpiteet auttavat kehittämään ehkäiseviä palveluja osana palvelurakenteen uudistusta. Julkaisussa tuodaan esille myös alan tietotarpeita ja ehdotetaan tutkimuskohteita.
THL suosittelee toimintaohjelman käyttämistä kuntien hyvinvointisuunnitelmissa. Tavoitteet ja toimenpiteet on suunnattu päättäjille, sosiaali- ja terveydenhuollon johdolle ja henkilöstölle, järjestöille, sekä opetustoimelle aina varhaiskasvatuksesta korkeakouluihin saakka. Toimenpiteiden toteuttajiksi suositellaan parhaita mahdollisia toimijoita. Edistä, ehkäise, vaikuta – investointi seksuaali- ja lisääntymisterveyteen on sijoitus tulevaisuuteen.”

” Raskaudenaikaisen lääkkeidenkäytön vaikutuksista sikiöön tiedetään vähän. Vain muutamien lääkkeiden tiedetään varmasti aiheuttavan sikiövaurioita, mutta toisaalta vain harvan lääkkeen tiedetään olevan turvallinen raskauden aikana käytettynä. Käyttöön tulee jatkuvasti uusia lääkkeitä, joiden kohdalla tieto raskaudenaikaisen käytön turvallisuudesta perustuu vain eläinkokeisiin. Eläinkokeet ovat suuntaa-antavia, mutta niiden tuloksia ei voida suoraan soveltaa ihmiseen. Eettiset syyt rajoittavat mahdollisuuksia tutkia lääkkeiden käyttöä raskaana olevilla naisilla ennen lääkkeen myyntiluvan myöntämistä. Tässä raportissa kuvataan raskaudenaikaista lääkkeidenkäyttöä ja sen vaikutuksia vastasyntyneiden terveyteen ja epämuodostumien esiintyvyyteen syntyneillä lapsilla tai keskeytetyissä raskauksissa vuosina 1996 2010 Suomessa. Tämä Lääkealan turvallisuus- ja kehittämiskeskus Fimean, Kelan ja Terveyden ja hyvinvoinnin laitoksen (THL) yhteistyötutkimus perustuu kansallisiin terveysrekistereihin: THL:n ylläpitämien syntymä-, raskaudenkeskeyttämis- ja epämuodostumarekisterien sekä Kelan reseptitiedoston ja erityiskorvausoikeuksien tiedoston tietoihin.”

“The rapidly developing field of nanomaterials has expanded in many commercial areas. More recent studies have begun to provide a foundation for understanding how nanomaterials influence cells and how they also can serve as methodological tools for studies in medicine and cell biology, include research into stem cells.
