European Biotech Week and Pitching Competition

The European Biotech Week celebrates biotechnology, an innovative and vibrant sector launched by the discovery of the DNA molecule back in 1953. The first European Biotech Week took place in 2013 and marked the 60th anniversary of this pivotal moment in history. Now it is celebrated again for the 4th time in 2019 from the 23rd to the 29th of September all over Europe. In Finland, the Finnish biotech week is organised by Finnish Bioindustries (FIB).

Biotech entrepreneurs continue to translate their innovations into advances in healthcare, agriculture, food, energy, water sanitation and biochemical processing, all of which have changed the world for the better. The aim of the Finnish biotech week is to highlight successes and opportunities both in and outside of Finland. The week-long event entails lectures, student activities and seminars all over Europe. Highlights of the event includes a pitching competition for life science students.
