Shikoh Shiraiwa is a PhD-student in History and Cultural Heritage. He was born and grew up in Ibaraki prefecture in Japan, and currently working at the University of Central Oklahoma, USA, as an Archives Specialist taking roles of collection manager, educational program developer and student internship supervisor, curator, collection researcher, and grant writer. He is moving to Helsinki in summer 2019. Shiraiwa’s research is an interdisciplinary, comparative study between Finland and Japan focusing on the relationship of the museum practice and cultural politics, as well as a method of multiperspective exhibition and education.
Shiraiwa is currently serving as a member of the International Council of Museums (ICOM)-Kyoto: University Museums and Collections (UMAC) Local Organizing Committee, UMAC Futures, as well as an Oklahoma Representative of the Association of Academic Museums and Galleries (AAMG).
