My Teaching – teacher.helsinki.fi
The My Teaching page offers information on all courses in the current term, and provides access to other interesting content and other services (e.g., Moodle, Wiki). You can also access course pages through My Teaching.
A course page is automatically created for all courses. Teachers can add the necessary information there. Course pages can also be used to store material and links. Because the basic information featured on course pages is extracted from WebOodi, the descriptions as well as the dates and times of teaching must be correct in Oodi.
Teachers can find their own course pages on My Teaching. For course pages to be displayed on My Teaching, the teacher must be registered as the course teacher in Optime. Students can find their course pages on their personal My Studies page.
The My Studies page offers information on all courses in the current term, and provides access to other interesting content and other services (e.g., Moodle, Wiki, Flamma, UniCafe, UniSport).
Examinarium is the University’s electronic exam system. Teachers can create exams in the system, and students can take the exams at their convenience during a defined exam period in a separate exam rooms equipped with a computer and a video recording system for invigilation. Examinarium increases the flexibility of studying, frees teachers from organising separate exam sessions throughout the academic year and makes it easier to provide feedback on answers.
One-stop-shop for student instructions
The Instructions for Students site contains the instructions pertaining to all students as well as programme-specific instructions for the new degree programmes that launched in autumn 2017. The website is public and can be accessed without logging in. This means that prospective students can also access the site. The instructions are organised by theme.
Teachers’ office hours are available for each degree programme. Remember to select your degree programme at the top of the page. Teachers can enter their office hours on the My Teaching site. In addition, news and bulletins relating to individual degree programmes can be published on the Instructions for Students site.
Optime software for timetabling and facility booking
The timetables of each degree programme are planned in the Optime system, which is also used to book teaching facilities and handle related invoices.
Two different interfaces of Optime are available: OptimeEvent and OptimePortal. OptimeEvent is used by education and project planning officers whose duties include timetabling. All members of University staff can use OptimePortal to view timetables and book teaching facilities for purposes other than teaching.
Optime allows teachers to view the teaching planned for them in calendar format, transfer confirmed teaching to their electronic calendar and notify obstacles and requests related to teaching timetables and facilities.
Optime is the source system for information on teachers as well as teaching times, dates and places. Completed timetables are transferred from Optime to Oodi, after which the course data created in Oodi are displayed on course pages. When handling course data, it is important to remember that the information maintained in Optime must not be edited in Oodi.
