NordWel Summer School 2011

State, Society & Citizen – Cross-disciplinary: Perspectives on Welfare State Development

Stockholm-Sigtuna, 21–26 August 2011

NCoE NordWel in cooperation with the Department of History, Stockholm University and the Institute for Future Studies, Stockholm organized an international summer school in Stockholm-Sigtuna in August 2011.

Distinguished international scholars lectured in sessions covering different themes such as the political economy of welfare states, conceptualisations of welfare, religion and welfare policies, civic society and public support for welfare states.

The list of senior scholars included Sonya Michel (Woodrow Wilson Centre for International Studies, University of Maryland), Kees van Kersbergen (Aarhus Universitet), Noel Whiteside (University of Warwick), Jonas Pontusson (Princeton University, Université de Genève), Kimberly Morgan (George Washington University), Christoph Conrad (Université de Genève), Adalbert Evers (Universität Giessen), Walter Korpi (Stockholms universitet), Stefan Svallfors (Umeå Universitet), Jenny Andersson (Sciences-po, CERI, Paris), Joakim Palme (Institutet för Framtidsstudier/Institute for Future Studies, Stockholm & Uppsala Universitet), Pauli Kettunen (University of Helsinki) and Klaus Petersen (Syddansk Universitet Odense).
