POLEEMI I: Totuus, fakta, fiktio
Historiaa ja nykypäivää tulkitaan eri tavoilla sekä tarkoituksellisesti että puutteellisen tiedon johdosta. Itsevaltaisten hallintojen suuruudenhullut tavoitteet ovat historiassa usein johtaneet tilanteeseen, jossa totuus on toissijaista – josta juontaa juurensa lentävä lause ”vale, emävale, tilasto”. Nykyäänkin historia valjastetaan politiikan välineeksi tulkitsemalla menneisyyttä omaan agendaan sopivalla tavalla, monissa maissa propaganda rehottaa ja vapaa lehdistö on vain haave, ja moni – Yhdysvaltojen presidentistä lähtien – takertuu väitteeseen ”fake news” kuullessaan itselleen epäedullisia uutisia. Millä kansalainen tunnistaisi totuuden? Kuka hyötyy faktan ja fiktion rajan hämärtymisestä?
POLEEMI I/2020 paneutuu vuosikymmenen ensimmäisessä numerossa näihin polttavan ajankohtaisiin teemoihin ja kysymyksiin.

Etsimme jälleen joukkoomme tekijöitä, jotka ovat valmiita kirjoittamaan, kuvittaamaan tai taittaamaan lehteämme. Ei haittaa, jos sinulla ei ole vielä juttuideaa valmiina mielessä. Autamme sinua sellaisen keksimisessä. Joukkoomme voit myös liittyä ainoastaan ideoimaan teeman pohjalta ja nauttimaan hyvästä seurasta.

POLEEMI I: Truth, fact, fiction.
The history and the present are both interpreted throught different perspectives, and some interpretations intentionally distort the facts. Autocratic regimes and their megalomaniac aspirations have often in history led to situations where the truth is dispensable. Even in the present day, politics of the past are used to justify political claims, propaganda thrives and the free press is but a wish in many countries, and when confronted with unpleasant news many are quick to claim ”fake news” – for instance the US president. How should an average person discern the truth? Who benefits from blurring the line between what is real and what is not?
POLEEMI I/2020 dives into these very topical themes and questions. POLEEMI invites you to think over these topics with us in the first editorial meeting of the year! We are looking for people ready and eager to write, illustrate, or edit our magazine. If you lack writing ideas you need not worry, we are glad to help you come up with one. You are also welcome to join us merely to discuss the topics and enjoy good company!
