Survey: Gambling in Finland during the COVID-19 pandemic

The research is conducted in collaboration with the University of Helsinki Centre for Research on Addiction, Control and Governance (CEACG) and the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL). Researchers Virve Marionneau, Tuulia Lerkkanen and Johanna Järvinen-Tassopoulos are responsible for the research project. In addition, the Finnish agencies addressing gambling-related harm, treatment, and prevention are involved in the co-operation, including Peluuri, Peliklinikka, Sosped Foundation and EHYT Finnish Association for Substance Abuse Prevention.

*The state of emergency caused by the coronavirus pandemic refers to a period that began on the second week of March when the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the COVID-19 a pandemic, and the Finnish state gambling company Veikkaus announced that it would close its electronic gambling machines, casino and gambling halls.
