I’m Santeri Räisänen, but I also go by Santtu. I am a PhD candidate at the Center for Consumer Society Research at the University of Helsinki. I am researching attempts to solve the problems of welfare society by building technologies of personalized consumption. I am especially interested in the stories of a good life, a good society and above all, what it means to be human, that are created and circulated by technologists building these technologies.

I work somewhere in the interdisciplinary interstices of science and technology studies and consumer culture theory. Currently I am drawn to Nikolas Rose’s concept of ethopolitics, or the politics of life itself. Namely, how do algorithmic recommendations become a site for the politics of life itself?
